One of the Shetou council houses that has held is position since before the modern Shetou existed. They were one of the major houses before Quaintana began her war with Alnae and have been very resistant to the changing times. Preferring to do things their own way by their own rules, which normally Shetou is a great place to do that in, but Song's family code often puts them at odd with their fellow houses. Council politics are difficult because of the Song Clan and made even worse by the fact that they were one of Quaintana's major backers and to this day remain one of the great houses responsible for housing a real military.

The clan has a notable disposition towards Incarnum and Zankou practices, and its house leader for centuries has been the system's most powerful Necrocarnate. A song family tradition is to pass down your own incarnum soul willingly to your successors in order to watch over them even in death, and this includes the iconic dragon in their logo. The current warlord not only has several dozen ancestors in their necrocarnum collection, they have one of the original dragons from the Era of Rising that fought back against the dragons on behalf of humanoids. Because of this, every leader of the clan has always been an extremely powerful incarnate and capable of things no other incarnum can even comprehend how to do since they have access to willing souls from a multitude of species.

This practice is not exclusive to the Song family, other members of the clan have started to also partake in the practice. For obvious reasons, the Song Clan is considered the authority on Incarnum magic and while they don't technically have an academy that hands out degrees, being able to prove you learned with them is worth as much or sometimes more then a degree. Due to it being the Incarnum capital of the system, the Song Clan also notably has a lot of orcs in its population.

As a result the general frontline of the Song Clan soldiers is something to be feared and they feature some of the most dangerous melee warriors in the system. They are capable of charging a front line with a sword and get there to start killing long before their incarnum shields give out from the incoming gunfire due to the high number of necrocarnates within their ranks. Fighting them is a strategic anomaly in warfare as the Song Clan is the only military to use melee frontlines even in the face of mass gunfire. Even with an open field, machine guns, and artillery - you can expect Song Clan to engage you in melee. They also tend to like helldropping, the practice of deploying soldiers from air right into the middle of enemy formations, more then any other faction in history. Regularly using it from both orbit and shuttles even though its considered a tactical suicide and most would just hotdrop to outside the enemy line if they were sane.

The Song family actually owns the Shetou capital on Thenica, their territory was declared the new capital after the old one was blown up by a usurping house seeking to make one of their own a Val'hari. The Song home became the new capital after all that was settled down. Suffice to say this is now one of Shetou's most powerful houses despite its completely different way of operating.

In the modern age the military is very nomadic and tends to just look for anything it doesn't like and blow it up. This contributes to them having the second most powerful navy in Shetou since their entire armed forces are mobile, not to mention the sheer number of conflicts the house sees makes them one of the most veteran fighting forces in the system. Some people consider them crazy terrorists and others see them as crusaders of justice, it depends what side of the conflict your money is on generally speaking.

Their flagship is a dreadnought called "Dragon's Reach" a massive warship that has surprising capabilities as a carrier despite the dreadnought title. It doesn't carry support ships but it can launch platoons effectively and is known to have a ridiculous amount of ethi tech on it due to the strange construction featuring a lot of trees and running water. It was designed for its interior to be a living environment for the comfort of its crew that live on the nomadic warship. It accidentally discovered how powerful that was for Ethi technology, more so then originally predicted, and now its ethi weapon batteries and shields eclipse all others within its weight class. Though it notably lacks physical projectile weapons like cannons because of this specialty, so anti magic defenses are very effective against it. Also this interior design for comfortable living conditions means it is not as capable as other dreadnoughts in purely combative applications, despite its overpowered ethi tech it has a lot less of it then a ship of this class should have. Its opening attack is always devastating and its cannons deal tremendous damage, but in an extended engagement with many different ship classes it will not perform as well as a dreadnought should.

It is currently ruled over by Shetou Warlord Song Yi, a dangerous necrocarnate for the aforementioned reasons with a strong sense of internal honor she enforces on others whether they are of her culture or not.
