The chosen star of Shetou. Whereas Alnae rushed to colonize a potential golden world that assured easy colonization, Shetou in their current position opted to take a massive gamble and go see to a system that has puzzled astronomers for centuries. Da Xian is home to something called an "unbound star", or a star with little to no gravity at all. Its planar link to Kari is so weak that the constant reaction taking place is not contained into a nice sphere, but is instead a cloud of burning gases writhing through space. This lack of gravity has also affected the few planets that hang out near it, they do not orbit the massive star and instead just seemingly float in place. It is a scientific oddity that Shetou decided "I bet we can colonize that one".
This star is colossal, if Sol system's sun was a binary system with both stars of equal size, they'd both fit within 20% of the space Da Xian engulfs. Though because it is not particularly well concentrated it isn't as bright as you might expect once you're on the available planets. The daytime sky appears to be a rolling mass of burning clouds, but its actually a bit dimmer then normal on these planets and the far side of the planet won't be the halfway point of the sphere. So its actually brighter at night and night is very short to make up for the dimmer conditions of daytime. Once again to add more chaos to this cycle, all three planets are actually very close to each other and can be seen with the naked eye from the surface of each one. Eclipses would be common were not for the sheer size of the unbound star and its proximity. These planets also lack gravity. Scientists are eager to study the properties of this star and its planetary cluster.
A dark world constantly covered in dense clouds that block out the sunlight from touching the surface. Yet still, there is life here. Small organisms actually live on the surface of the clouds, obviously advanced by evolution to survive where the only light can be found. These organisms act as animals but rely on a small food chain that involves photosynthesizing micro-organisms that are harvested by the slightly larger creatures. Due to the lack of gravity on this planet, it is very easy for these organisms to keep afloat above the clouds where they can find sunlight. What scientists want to know is how the clouds and atmosphere stay with the planet without gravity to keep it tethered.
A big boring ball of dust...just no gravity so the dust is fucking everywhere. Considered a waste of effort to try and do much with, unless you wanted to build something somewhere that no one would find it. It turns out being a boring ball of floating dust that makes navigation impossible is just the kind of thing Shetou want. Military houses have already expressed interest in setting up colonies within this impenetrable mass of choking hazard.
The strangest planet, and the one Shetou decided to try and settle down on. Unlike most of the worlds scouted so far by any given humanoid, DR3 has an advanced ecosystem. There world is covered in vegetation of alien varieties that grow in strange ways without gravity to keep them tethered. For reasons unknown, the soil is extremely nutrient rich here. The problem with growing crops from Thenica here is actually that its too rich in nutrients and mutates or kills anything that might be grown here not of its native ecosystem. The vegetation here is aggressive and consumes any Thenican plants plopped into the ground given enough time. There are no real animals here, and by the current progress of biologists the vast forest here might actually just be a single tree. So far there is always a connecting link between every bit of vegetation and there is no indication of a separation even if the connections aren't in the roots as you might expect. On the upside, this super-tree is not harmful to humanoids, but the atmosphere is hostile. Fixing it is proving difficult because the tree is keeping it regulated, scientists think they're going to have to kill the vegetation or modify it to produce the atmosphere they prefer. For now, space helmets on everyone.
Obviously the map pictures aren't to scale for a sense of distance, AZ5 is very very very far away from the star. It is literally a ball of ice, survey ships can't even determine if there is a rock in its center or if its just a massive ball of ice floating around in space, they're leaning towards the latter. It has a pretty ring though. A ring made of more ice. At the very least its a promising source of water for terraforming other worlds. Its moon is another bland ball of rock with no interesting qualities. This is going to be a recurring theme in space.
