There is an ongoing debate if there are any humans left. After exelca silvarum spread through the human population, any that survived wound up being mutated and displaying properties not traditionally found in humans. Particularly, they were sturdier then normal and could regenerate from wounds and sickness much faster then the pre-plague humans could. The exelca silvarum is intertwined deeply into their genetics now, and no one is really sure if that is a good or bad thing. Either way, earth belonged to the humans long before the invaders came, and they're pretty adamant on keeping it as theirs.
