A moderate sized town on the frontiers of North Dakota. Initially founded by Robert Love and now under the governance of his only daughter. Rapidvale got its start during a time of aggressive frontier expansion when people were looking for a chance to escape the social immobility of the great cities. Robert was a brave explorer and with a few like minded individuals they braved the Miasma to find new lands for themselves. Eventually settling in the forested hills of North Dakota after an outbreak of disease among the caravan forced them to stop traveling. After building some basic comforts to aid in caring for the sick, it became easier to just build more things right there rather than pack it all up and move on. They found a spot along the James River that provided ample water and plenty of trees for lumber to get started. Surviving mostly on hunting and fishing, they slowly carved out a place to set down their roots.

Rapidvale was one of the frontier towns that was figured to be abandoned when the miasma started to creep through North Dakota and engulf towns. Though its residents still haven't left and the Miasma still hasn't consumed it just yet. Though during certain seasons, the fog rolls over it and brings it into the supernatural quirks of the mist for a few days at a time. Over time it instead became host to many bizarre residents who tend to pop up when the miasma is close by. Making deals with local tribes of natives for charms to help keep the Miasma at bay for as long as possible.

These days, the town is considered a deep frontier town. Just a few miles away from a wall of fog that is the miasma and host to many who regularly venture inwards to make their riches. One of its major exports is goods from within the miasma they can ship down the river when the season is right to avoid the river itself falling into the miasma. The town has a reputation of being a particularly bizarre place, where the living dead and monsters from the woods are frequently spotted. They don't get many curious guests other than the state tax collector and some of the Federal Rangers every now and then as a staging point for their own adventures into the miasma.
