Psionic
Psionics are the ability to use the power within yoru mind. A psionic is both born and made, one must be born with the ability to use that much of their mind as to access these mental powers. However, a popular trend in the sol system is psionic tattoos from a real psionic. This enables non-psionics a single psionic ability (per tattoo) with a few uses per day. Though to use the vast amount of psionic abilities you must be born of that ability, or get a loooot of tattoos.
People born with this innate ability usually get it from one side or another of their family, but the gene can lay dormant for a few generations which makes it seem random when it shows up in the family again. Geneticists find that 70-80% of all humanoids carry the gene but it only activates 8-11% of the time.
There are 6 specific studies of psionics that the abilities are sorted by.
Clairsentience: Precognitive abilities and the like. Those who master clairsentience are very good at finding things out, whether it be an event before it actually happens, the killer in a murder case, or who stole their sandwich from the office kitchen even though they left their name on it.
Metacreativity: This discipline allows the psionic to draw matter from the area around them to create semi solid and solid items. This can often be used to create construct beings and is how several synthetics came into existence long ago.
Psychokinesis: The ability to manipulate matter and energy, allowing the wielder to produce drastic physical effect with the objects at their disposal.
Psychometabolism: These powers allow the ability to alter the users biology or that of creatures near them. These abilities are good for healing and make for spectacular doctors as well as horrific mad scientists. Masters of this school can manipulte their own body or anothers to great extent.
Psychoportation: This school of study is the ability to propel or displace objects in space or in some powerful cases, time. It differs from psychokinesis in that it cheats physics from kinetic energy. This is more used for things such as teleportation or slowing down someones sense of time.
Telepathy: Wtf do you think this one is.
Psionic masters, those who study and are given a degree from an accredited institution, have their own titles just like their more common arcane counter parts.
