Humans have a knack for surviving bad times. This is likely a result of their tendency to reproduce frequently, with multiple partners, and with little regard for the offspring sometimes.

They once ruled the greatest empire during the Era of Rising, but as time progressed the superior planning and lifespans of the elves caused the fall of the human kingdom and the rise of elven rule.

The tenacious humans have spread into all corners of civilization, after a few thousand years their standing within the Elven empire was elevated as a necessary reaction to the sudden drow uprise. However, even with the suddenly elevated status many of them still went to Shetou, putting them evenly spread out.

With opportunity once again available to them the humans have begun to fit into every possible role with the exception of the council politics. They have no real consistency across the board in terms of racial relations, some extremists hate elves, gnolls, and their whole team. Others instead see civil change coming just around the corner.

What is most important is their expendability, they reproduce fast in comparison to most other species. Whether due to stubborness, ambition, or just outright thrill seeking they almost always have someone ready to do something insane if its called for. The elves and drow alike have purposefully utilized humans to be expendable military assets for high-risk operations, which the humans seem to have taken to naturally. Their shorter lifespans have made it difficult for them to find work in higher skilled careers or politics since the species that can live for much longer tend to be trusted to have more time to perfect their craft or maintain power.
